Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards
|Recipient Name:||Multilingual Orientation Service Association for Immigrant Communities|
|Location:||Vancouver, British Columbia|
|Purpose:||This 36 month project will seek to increase gender diversity in news media in Vancouver, BC. The organization will address issues such as discrimination, stereotyping, and lack of representation of women as experts in news media by developing and piloting a culturally sensitive gender framework for media content and coverage for news media organizations when reporting on violence against women. Through partnerships and engagement, the organization will work with key stakeholders to develop a plan for gender equality and diversity in news media content and coverage and in the workplace. Gaps and promising practices will be identified and shared, including the creation and implementation of a self-assessment standards booklet and a Gender Equality charter for the media. Results will also be disseminated amongst broader stakeholders in order to strengthen implementation.|
