Purpose: This 36-month project will equip and support Indigenous women living in Mashteuiatsh to actively participate in the consultation process leading to ratification of a treaty on self-government. The project will establish dialogue between Indigenous women, local decision-makers, the band council, experts and various committees of the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador. The project will develop and use tools, such as gender-based analysis, community asset mapping and a collaborative platform to allow Indigenous women to share their views, needs, priorities and knowledge on issues that directly affect them as they relate to the establishment of local governance.
