Purpose: This 36-month project will seek to build leadership capacity and create opportunities for Indigenous women to take on leadership roles in Tk’emlups te Secwepemc, British Columbia. Community organizations and Elders will be engaged to design a leadership development series for Indigenous women to increase their leadership skills and expand their understanding of issues affecting their communities. The project will culminate with a Nation-to-Nation gathering, bringing together Indigenous women from Tk’emlups te Secwepemc and other First Nations to share knowledge and experiences in community leadership. Indigenous women will participate in train-the-trainer sessions to learn approaches for building women’s leadership and gain knowledge in delivering future Indigenous women’s gatherings.
