Purpose: This 36-month project will identify the economic, social and institutional barriers preventing successful re-engagement of Alberta professional women in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) after an extended caregiver leave or absence as well as foreign trained professionals re-engaging in their fields. This will be achieved through thorough needs assessment and the creation of action plans and best practices for both employers and the women in these fields. The project will be a collaborative effort by Alberta Women's Science Network and Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA), GeoWomen of Calgary, MentorUP Edmonton, MentorUP Alberta, Bridge For Engineering, Science & technology Talent (BESTT), Athabasca University Faculty of Science and Technology, WISER (Women in Science, Engineering and Research).
