Purpose: This 36-month project will work to improve the retention and advancement of women lawyers across British Columbia. The project will develop and strengthen partnerships between the legal community and key stakeholders such as the Canadian Bar Association B.C. Women Lawyers Forum and the Law Society of B.C., to respond to specific economic and social barriers faced by women lawyers. The project will focus on the development of best practices and policies to address the lack of institutional supports for women's multiple roles and address exclusionary practices within law firms by working with women lawyers, sole proprietors, and senior management within private practices.
