Purpose: This 36-month project will work to remove barriers to women's participation in decision-making roles related to the progress of the economic sector in Acadian communities of New Brunswick. Through the project, cooperation and collaboration will be facilitated between women leaders and economic development partners to implement structural mechanisms to: strengthen the economic prosperity of women; remove barriers to their success; and help leverage advancement opportunities. Barriers to equitable representation on boards of directors and steering committees of key institutions will be addressed and governance tools will be developed with a gendered lens for the adoption of policies and procedures to increase opportunities for women to benefit from the economic prosperity generated by key institutions in the economic development sector.
