Purpose: This 36 month project will work to advance women’s participation in non-traditional occupations in British Columbia’s energy sector. The project will engage key stakeholders to develop industry action plans to address the specific needs of women, identify promising opportunities, and test and implement innovative approaches for women’s recruitment and retention. This project will strengthen relationships between key stakeholders and address identified institutional barriers such as current labour practices, workplace culture, a lack of industry role models, and barriers specific to visible minority women. Community partners and stakeholders will collaborate to maximize opportunities to advance women in the natural gas industry and will take strategic sector-specific actions to support the initiative.
