Purpose: This 36-month project will work to advance women in non-traditional occupations in the manufacturing industry in Manitoba. The project will engage key stakeholders to increase supports and create opportunities for the recruitment and advancement of women in the sector. A series of resources, including a “women in manufacturing” website will be developed to increase access to best practices to advance women in the industry. Training and education institutions will be engaged to incorporate the new resources into existing curricula to prepare women, both in skilled and non-skilled trades programs, who are considering employment opportunities in the manufacturing industry. The organization will also work with employers to integrate new policies and processes focused on the recruitment and retention of women.
