Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards
|Recipient Name:||Cowichan Women Against Violence Society|
|Location:||Duncan, British Columbia|
|Purpose:||This 24-month project will address institutional barriers and other factors that limit community efforts to prevent and reduce violence against women in the Cowichan Valley district. Marginalized young women who have experienced, or who are at-risk of experiencing violence will facilitate peer-led focus groups on safety issues ranging from institutional barriers to physical safety concerns such as public security and the lack of city transportation infrastructure. The project will identify promising strategies and pilot an initiative in partnership with local community stakeholders to address violence against women.|
