Purpose: This 36-month project will address gender-based violence against Aboriginal women and girls in and around Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. The project will develop, implement, and evaluate a preventative and educational community plan in cooperation with service providers, women and girls affected by violence, and nine First Nations communities, including the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and Tribal Councils. The project will work to develop a model community plan that can be replicated in diverse situations, and create a sustainability plan that could support the plan beyond the project timeline.
