Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Women in Film and Television Vancouver
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia
Date: 2011-03-18
Value: $300,000.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This 24-month project will engage participants in developing/adapting programs, resources and tools to improve women's retention and advancement in non-traditional and other sectors where they remain under-represented. It will also engage women and men in their workplaces and ensure the participation of employers and industry stakeholders in supporting women's leadership and advancement in their organizations and within the sector. A "reverse mentorship" component will seek to increase employers' awareness of barriers facing women employees. Innovative models and proven supports will then be shared with other organizations and communities working on similar issues across Canada. This project will introduce women from diverse backgrounds to opportunities available in the film and television industry, as well as address the issue of retention of women in these areas. The project will have a significant mentoring component, including reverse mentoring for women in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. The organization will use a combination of technology and face-to-face approaches for the project’s activities.
