Purpose: This 24-month project will develop/adapt innovative programs and other supports to increase growth opportunities for women owners of small and medium-sized businesses, including immigrant and Aboriginal women. A gender-based analysis of programming and planning will assist participants in their efforts to ensure that business development programs and other supports respond to the specific needs of women entrepreneurs, including those from immigrant and Aboriginal communities. This project will explore practical ways to address and overcome these and other barriers to success for women business owners. The goal of the project is to identify opportunities and obstacles for women owners of small and medium sized business via a resource tool developed to review, assess and/or audit new initiatives. The target population is rural and Aboriginal women owners of small and medium business throughout the District of Muskoka, Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravehurst, Georgian Bay and Lake of the Bays.
