Purpose: This three-year pilot project will provide direct training, ‘Train the Trainer' programming and support to 23 volunteer facilitators from local Aboriginal, immigrant, youth and women’s business organizations in nine BC communities. The project will target those who face economic, geographic and social/cultural barriers in obtaining leadership training. Taking the Stage training will be offered first to trainers who will then deliver the program to a further 120 women in their home communities. All participants will attend training sessions, presentations and group meetings to learn how to: project a strong, confident leadership presence; become comfortable in the spotlight; be assertive in getting messages across; be more powerful vocally; and project a more dynamic presence. This project will be offered to Aboriginal, immigrant and entrepreneur women in communities like Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Cranbrook, Salmon Arm, Westbank First Nations, Port Alberni, Campbell River, Sooke and Kamloops, and will include immigrant women from Ismaili, Chinese and African communities.
