Purpose: This 36-month project involves informing, raising the awareness of and empowering 800 francophone (Acadian and immigrant) women living in rural Nova Scotia so that they acquire the skills for dealing with violence. The Fédération will give 40 awareness-raising workshops in 5 regions, will hold 5 consultations on the needs of women and will train 5 regional interveners for victims of violence. Along with its key partners, the group will develop and make available to victims empowerment tools including a directory of services in French that provides them with options for breaking the cycle of violence, thus enabling them to live more independently in their community.
