Location: Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, New Brunswick
Date: 2010-03-15
Value: $78,300.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This 24-month project will pool the expertise and experience of women who have been victims of violence in New Brunswick’s rural francophone and Acadian regions. Together, the women will develop a community mentoring model in which 6 women survivors of domestic violence will be mentors. The project will help 48 women living in a shelter acquire the skills needed for developing a training guide. In total, 354 women will participate in the various support groups set up. The project will also assist participating women in establishing a support system in the region while empowering them to break the cycle of violence. The women will develop the required tools for enabling them to learn independence, reduce their isolation and acquire the means to increase their civic and community participation across the province.
