Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Lanark County Interval House
Location: Carleton Place, Ontario
Date: 2009-02-09
Value: $197,848.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This 36 month project will educate Lanark County youth (both young women and men) about violence against young women and girls in intimate relationships and will ultimately lead to youth-led, self-sustaining, anti-violence initiatives in seven local rural high schools. The project will oversee two main components each year: the development and delivery of interactive workshops and resource packages for Grade 9 and Grade 11 students on healthy relationships and dating violence; and the coordination of a semi-annual youth summit. Youth representatives will gather from all local high schools in their first semester to engage in interactive learning about dating violence and to strategize about creative, student-led projects to promote awareness in their own schools about violence against young women and girls. They will create an annual DVD to document their progress and invite youth to meet again in their second semesters to celebrate their achievements and promote further sustained awareness.
Comments: Multi-year project of 36 months.
