Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: New Brunswick Child Care Coalition
Location: Moncton, New Brunswick
Date: 2009-01-13
Value: $169,700.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This 18 month project will assist rural New Brunswick mothers, particularly single mothers living in five target communities, to make informed decisions when in need of child care services. The organization will target mothers who are ready and able to gain meaningful employment or obtain a higher degree of education to participate in the development and delivery of tools and materials for the realization of three comprehensive child care service models, responding to the needs within their community. At least 50 mothers currently accessing child care services will assist in the delivery of sessions on work force re-entry preparation, the impact and the findings of three child care models on the economic well being of mothers. These participants will become mentors to an additional 100 women to increase their capacity in community decision making, thus being instrumental in the realization and choices of quality child care as part of the New Brunswick government community infrastructure, which is essential to increase low-income women’s economic security, improve their current and future labor force attachment and their participation in the economic life of the community.
