Value: $100,783.00

Purpose: The project will support the engagement of eight community leaders representing a range of nationally based and regional organizations at meetings of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (the priority theme is financing for women’s equality), as well as the development of community action plans. The Canadian Feminist Alliance for International Action will coordinate the logistical aspects of this participation, provide relevant and pertinent preparatory training prior to and during the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, and will assist participants in the development of tools and identification/development of community action plans. Through this project, the community leaders will enhance their knowledge of women’s economic security. With the knowledge gained at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, they will be better equipped to pursue the identification/development of community action plans designed to assist in the advancement of women’s opportunities in their respective communities. At the end of this project, the Canadian Feminist Alliance for International Action expects that a minimum of 250 women in each of the eight communities (2,000 women) will have been involved in the development of community action plans aimed at advancing issues of women’s economic security.
