Purpose: Building on previous work, the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies will further empower criminalized women, especially Aboriginal women, by increasing women’s knowledge of their rights and legal entitlements through human rights training and supporting them in exercising their rights and asserting their needs. In this project, the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies plans to implement strategies to facilitate women's integration into their communities after exiting prison. The organization will develop training tools to support women exiting prison to successfully integrate the communities; and professional and public education tools, to prepare communities to integrate women exiting prison. Women who have successfully reintegrated will be encouraged to assist other women.
