Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: West Coast Legal Education and Action Fund Association (West Coast LEAF)
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia
Date: 2008-03-03
Value: $124,000.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This project builds on the previous work of West Coast LEAF and seeks to provide greater access to family law for some of the most marginalized women in British Columbia. This pilot project will work with community partners, family law lawyers and community advocates to address the specific challenges marginalized women face in accessing family law information and support. Input will be sought from impacted women, through support groups and through the establishment of an advisory committee, to develop an effective and culturally sensitive model for family law legal services delivery. The delivery model will be tested with women most affected and evaluated to measure its impact. The anticipated result is a model of accessible family law services for women that addresses the specific needs of marginalized women who are most in need of support for these services and most affected by the current barriers to access to family law services.
Comments: Multi-year project of 2 years (2008-2009).
