Purpose: This project aims to improve access to services for girls and women victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse, particularly those living in remote and rural areas. A comprehensive training curriculum aimed at health and social services professionals and paraprofessionals will be developed and piloted across several Alberta communities. The training will be delivered with a view to increasing the knowledge and skills of first line responders to detect, assess and respond effectively to sexual assault/abuse disclosures by girls and women. The impact of the training will be assessed on a yearly basis to monitor increases in reporting by women and girls.
Comments: Multi-year project of 3 years (2008-2010).
