Date: 2008-03-03
Value: $42,121.00

Purpose: Safe Stroll Outreach is an 18 month project which will provide workshops to 150 women addressing sex worker specific topics. This will include conflict resolution, crisis prevention and intervention, HIV/AIDS information, sex worker safety and more. A second series of workshops will train six sex workers to become peer mentors. The participants will provide peer based education to community agencies and distribute a resource booklet. The “Bad Date Booklet” provides information on the types of abuse a sex worker may face from a client and information on community resources. 60 front line community workers will gain the necessary tools to address violence facing the women they serve. At least 50 sex workers will receive the booklet on a weekly basis. A project manual will be produced, explaining the process of developing this peer project. It may be used as a project replication tool and community resource in other areas.
