Purpose: O.W.N. (Opportunities for Women Now) is a Preventative Outreach initiative designed to increase women's understanding of the Canadian legal framework and it's intersection with marginal women's lives; for instance, their parenting/childrearing, family and relationships, immigration and migration, and domestic violence. Community Outreach Workshops will inform the women at risk of resource agencies and on topics such as: domestic violence, assault, sex trade/drug abuse, theft and fraud. Resource materials, collected during the project and published in seven languages, will educate women at risk of common offences, with a goal of enhancing safety, promoting healthy lifestyles and increasing opportunities to participate in economic, educational and social life.
