Purpose: This 25 month pilot project aims to increase economic independence and security for low income women. The project includes a one-day conference on business start-up and two six-month group training components offered in three different locations in the province. By piloting the project for a two year period, the group will be able to evaluate the level of success of viable career options for 150 low income women and assess the need for a long-term initiative focused on business start-up for a higher number of women to better participate in their local economy. Results will be shared with the province and other women in business groups.
