Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: WOMEN IN CITIES INTERNATIONAL
Location: Montreal, Quebec
Date: 2007-10-12
Value: $528,800.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This three-year project will increase women’s safety and improve the safety infrastructure in four urban communities across Canada: Regina, Peel, Montréal and Gatineau. Sixty women representing the four targeted populations (Aboriginal, immigrant, older and disabled women) will work with municipal partners and local women’s organizations to conduct safety audits on priority issues for each target group. The audits relate to the various types of violence that exist, as well as to the solutions: better public transportation, increased awareness of safety measures, better policing, and improved housing and employment conditions for vulnerable populations.
Comments: Multi-year project of 4 years (2007-2010).
