Purpose: The overarching goal of the initiative is to engage women living in poverty in rural communities in Southwestern Ontario and their advocates in rural women’s organizations in a capacity-building process that will work to improve the lives of rural women living in poverty. The main objective of the initiative is to generate positive community change through the active participation of rural women living in poverty and their advocates, by raising public awareness, challenging negative attitudes and mobilizing supportive resources for rural women living in poverty and their families.
