Purpose: This 36-month project will increase economic opportunities for urban Aboriginal women living in ten communities in the province of Quebec. In collaboration with Aboriginal women and key stakeholders such as community organizations, financial and educational institutions, chambers of commerce and government, the organization will identify assets and opportunities for Aboriginal women in each of the ten communities. The organization will then pilot the development and implementation of economic community plans in three communities that are at different stages in their economic development, from economic security to economic prosperity. These plans and related best practices will be shared with the remaining communities in order to facilitate their adaptation and implementation.
