Recipient Name: National Association of Friendship Centres
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Date: 2015-05-13
Value: $750,000.00
Type: Contribution
Purpose: This 36-month project will address violence against Aboriginal women and girls across Canada through the design and delivery of an online mobile platform. In consultation with partners and local community stakeholders, the project will build on existing tools and knowledge to adapt and create culturally-specific online content to address gendered violence. The content will focus on prevention, empowering women and girls, and engaging men and boys. The interactive platform will also inform the development of community-driven initiatives to address issues of concern, for example safety and access to services, identified by platform users. These activities will support the project's goal of working to prevent violence against Aboriginal women and girls, supporting victims of violence, sharing knowledge, and fostering sustainable partnerships in communities across Canada.
