Purpose: This 36-month project will support women’s recruitment, participation, retention and promotion in Quebec’s mining sector. A needs assessment with a gender lens will be conducted by engaging with key partners, women already working in nontraditional fields and women in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean and Chibougamau regions. A strategic planning and steering committee will be established along with regional sub-committees to foster dialogue between representatives from various stakeholders, including women’s groups, women’s employability organizations, training centres, human resource departments from mining corporations, trade unions and government ministries. Consultation will be followed by the development and implementation of a joint action plan for the mining sector.
