Recipient Name: Community Table for the National Human Resources Development Committee for the English Linguistic Minority
Location: Huntingdon, Quebec
Date: 2013-12-16
Value: $148,837.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This 24-month project will work to increase economic opportunities for English-speaking women living in the Magdalen Islands. Partnerships will be fostered between local women and stakeholders from various sectors of activity including the fishing and tourism industries. Community planning sessions will help to assess the needs of local women and map the existing community assets and opportunities. A three- to five-year strategy will be developed to prioritize and address the identified barriers and opportunities. Initiatives will also be aligned with existing local and regional economic development strategies. The strategy will engage various partners, including those from the education and employability sectors, to work collaboratively and maximize the use of available resources. Local women will then work in collaboration with key partners to implement aspects of the strategy.
