Purpose: | This 36-month project will promote metalworking as a potential career option for young women and girls from the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region currently considering or re-evaluating their career options. To support womens recruitment, retention and promotion into the metalworking sector, a committee and working sub-committees with representatives from local businesses, and economic and educational partners will undertake sector-specific efforts to advance womens participation in this non traditional field. A needs assessment will be carried out to identify issues, priorities and views of key stakeholders, including women from the community, task forces, employability organizations, the Comité sectoriel en métallurgie and employers. The committee will then develop and implement an action plan addressing the specific environment and priorities of this employment sector. |
