Purpose: This 36 month project will engage key stakeholders to increase economic opportunities for women in non-traditional occupations in construction-related trades in Saskatoon. The project will use a comprehensive approach through policy review, workshops and focus groups with women and employers to recognize and address the barriers for women that exist within the workplace. This pilot project will be the first step towards a six-year plan led by the organization in collaboration with the Province of Saskatchewan and other partners, including industry and training institutions, to develop a sector/industry action plan and a comprehensive women-in-trades program to create sustainable opportunities to support the advancement of women in non-traditional occupations.
