Purpose: This 36 month project will work with low income and economically disadvantaged women in Cochrane and surrounding rural villages. Through consultation with women, the project will identify the employment, resource, and support needs of low income women including single mothers, immigrant women, disabled women, and Aboriginal women. The community plan will explore the creation of a “Women’s Coalition” to inform coordination of existing services/resources and the development of gender informed professional education program for service providers. The Coalition will also ensure a gender lens is applied to future community and program planning.
