Support for Women’s Empowerment
Status of Women Canada launched a Call for Proposals for projects that increase women’s participation in the democratic and public life. All projects will include a number of predetermined elements, which organizations must address in their proposals.
This call for proposals is divided into these streams:
- Empowering Indigenous Women for stronger Communities
- Empowering Women for Political and Community Action (Note: We are no longer accepting applications for this stream. The deadline for applications was May 3, 2016.)
The deadline for applications under this Call for Proposals is noon (12:00 p.m) Pacific Daylight Time, June 1, 2016* for projects that fall under Stream 1 – Empowering Indigenous Women for Stronger Communities. The deadline for applications for projects that fall under stream 2 - Empowering Women for Political and Community Action - was noon (12:00 p.m) Pacific Daylight Time, May 3, 2016. All required documents must be provided at the time of submission. Please note that incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
*Note: A second wave of applications received by November 1, 2016, may also be considered if there are funds remaining for Stream 1 – Empowering Indigenous Women for Stronger Communities.

Survey results show that most successful applicants consult with a program officer during the application process, either by contacting them directly or by attending an information session. To get in touch with a program officer, please contact the Status of Women Canada office in your region.
